Paper exists to help you manage your money — not to monetize your data.
- We do NOT sell your personal or financial data.
- We do NOT use advertising or data brokers.
- We make money only from subscriptions.
- Your data is used solely to provide and improve the App.
- Some data is stored securely on your device for offline use and performance.
- AI-powered answers are processed on-device using Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models).

1. Who We Are
Snail Kite Studios LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates Paper (“Paper,” “App,” or “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use Paper.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to provide and improve the Service.
A. Account & Authentication Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Authentication credentials handled securely by Firebase Authentication
Supported sign-in methods include:
- Email & password
- Google Sign-In
- Apple Sign-In
We never store plaintext passwords.
B. Financial Account & Transaction Data
With your explicit consent, we use Plaid to connect to your financial institutions and retrieve:
- Account balances
- Transaction history
- Institution and account metadata
This data is:
- Used ONLY to power budgeting and personal finance features
- Accessible only to you through the App
- Revocable at any time by disconnecting Plaid
C. Usage, Analytics & Diagnostic Data
To maintain and improve the App, we collect limited technical data using Google Firebase:
Firebase Analytics
- Screen views
- Feature usage
- Session frequency
- Engagement metrics
Firebase Crashlytics
- Crash logs
- Device type & OS
- App state at crash
Crash data does not include financial transaction data.
D. Local Device Storage
Paper stores some data locally on your device using SwiftData/Core Data, including:
- Cached account and transaction data
- App preferences and settings
- Data needed for performance and offline use
Local data:
- Remains on your device
- Is protected by iOS encryption and app sandboxing
- Is removed when the app is deleted (per iOS behavior)
We DO NOT access your local data unless you sync it via the Service.
E. On-Device AI Processing
Paper includes AI-powered features to answer financial questions.
- AI runs on-device using Apple’s Foundation Models / Apple Intelligence
- Prompts and responses are processed locally
- We do NOT receive or store AI prompts or outputs
- Apple’s platform policies apply to AI processing
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Authenticate and manage accounts
- Display financial data securely
- Improve app performance and reliability
- Diagnose issues
- Communicate service-related updates
We DO NOT:
- Sell data
- Use data for advertising
- Build behavioral profiles
- Track you across apps
We also DO NOT use AI prompts or responses for analytics or training.
4. Data Sharing & Third-Party Services
Core Policy: We DO NOT sell, rent, or trade user data.
We only share data with service providers necessary to operate the App:

Firebase does NOT use data for ads.
